How to add button tint programmatically

According to the documentation the related method to android:backgroundTint is setBackgroundTintList(ColorStateList list)

then load it using

setBackgroundTintList(contextInstance.getResources().getColorStateList(R.color.your_xml_name));

where contextInstance is an instance of a Context
