As per this post, I’ve reinstalled sqlite3 gem and the problem disappeared:
gem uninstall sqlite3
gem install sqlite3
My software versions:
% ruby -v
ruby 1.9.2p180 (2011-02-18 revision 30909) [x86_64-darwin11.2.0]
% rails -v
Rails 3.2.1
