Stable alternative to RXTX
We have moved to java-simple-serial-connector which seems to be very stable and comfortable at the current release 0.9.0. For now, it works on windows and linux systems. We use it for modem interactions.

Been using usb4java for a year on cross platfom (Linux and Windows) and it works great. See: http://usb4java.org/ They are very active and have a very good javax USB front.
Go to Project -> properties -> Java build path ->Find your .jar. Click on + to open the JAR’s properties. Select Native library location and edit it to point to RXTX’s shared library (.DLL, .so, .dylib).
