Path extension and MIME type of file in swift

If anyone wants to get the MimeType from the actual URL of the file this code worked for me:

func mimeTypeForPath(path: String) -> String {
    let url = NSURL(fileURLWithPath: path)
    let pathExtension = url.pathExtension
