  1. Get the computed styles with getComputedStyle
  2. Use getPropertyValue to get the value of the desired property
getComputedStyle(element).getPropertyValue('--color-font-general');

Example:

console.log( style.getPropertyValue('--baz') ) // calc(2px*2)
